Will God let You into Heaven?
ACCORDING to religious survey opinion polls, most people believe that there is a real Heaven to which they hope someday to go. However, when they are asked why they think they will go to heaven, their reasons are many and varied. Can they all be right? What about you, dear reader? Will God let you into Heaven?
Most people who believe that they will be let into Heaven say, God will let me into Heaven because:
a. He is a God of love, everyone therefore goes to Heaven.
b. I have done the best I can.
c. I have reached out to help others.
d. I have been a good person.
e. I believe in God.
f. I have been a faithful church member all my life.
g. My parents made sure I was baptized shortly after I was born.
God, in the Scriptures, sums up His estimate of those who think He will let them into Heaven for the above reasons. “Not everyone that saith unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in Heaven” Matthew 7:21.
Are you ready for a shock, dear reader? God does not make the choice as to whether you go to Heaven when you die, you do. Notice this in the above passage, “Not everyone that saith unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father.” These ones, i.e. those who do the will of the Heavenly Father are the only ones going to Heaven.
Are you ready for another shock? There are only two destinations for all people after death. Only one of them is an option. You either go to Heaven or Hell. If you do not choose God’s option, “Heaven”, then you automatically are going to Hell to await the judgment day. The Bible confirms this in II Peter 2:9, “The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.” Where are they reserved? “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God” Psalm 9:17. You will then, at the end of the world, be taken from hell to face the Lord Jesus Christ at the Great White Throne Judgment.
Note very carefully what God reveals through the Apostle John about the final destiny of all those who face Him at this time. “And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it…, and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the Lake of Fire” Revelations 20:11-15.
How can this be? Is God being unfair? No, God is fair and just in all that He does. Each of us know that we sin. In fact, it is a part of our normal nature to sin against God, for all people are born sinners. Listen to God’s conclusion of man’s plight. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23. Your sin has caused a barrier of separation between you and God. The old Prophet Isaiah warned of the consequences of this separation in Isaiah 59:2, “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear.” If you cannot somehow find God’s forgiveness for your sins and re-establish this broken relationship, you must live apart from Christ forever.
My friend, God wants you in Heaven with Him. The Scriptures state, God is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” II Peter 3:9. God loves you so much that He made it possible for you to return to Him. What did He do? The Apostle Paul writing in Romans 5:8,9 states, “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” Jesus Christ died on the cross that through His substitutionary death on our behalf He might reestablish our broken relationship with God. “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit” I Peter 3:18.
Dear friend, as you read this article you are being given the opportunity right now to choose your eternal destiny.
If you want to choose God’s way, the first step back to Him is to be willing to repent. To repent is to say to God, “Oh God, I am going the wrong way without You. I want to turn and go Your way with You.” The second step is to turn to God in prayer and ask for His forgiveness of your sins, believing that Jesus Christ died on the Cross to pay your penalty for sin. The third step is to invite Jesus Christ to come into you to share your life forever.
If you will come to God today by prayer, believing the above truths, then you may have peace with Him today. Here is a suggested prayer that may help you. “Dear Heavenly Father. I come to You, confessing that I have sinned and broken Your laws. I am sorry for my sin, and believe that Jesus Christ came to earth to die for me and my sin. Please forgive me. I invite You into my life, and give Jesus Christ the right to control the rest of my life. Please help me to be what You want me to be. Thank You for saving me and accepting me. I pray this in Jesus’ Name.”
I urge you to turn to God and seek His forgiveness and a new life today. WILL YOU DO IT?
