The Place Everyone Talks About

$0.00

HELL, that is the place! Everybody seems to be talking about it. Hardly a conversation but what the place is mentioned several times. People in general should by now be “hell conscious” for the term is certainly used often. Moviedom employs the word in production titles. People freely consign their fellow men to the place. By many it is used as a byword on the one hand as freely as the Name of the Lord is profaned on the other. Such familiarity! And yet who really professes his intention to go there? As for telling another to “go to hell” surely no person could really mean it. His every sentiment recoils from the very thought of such a thing. It would be too terrible a fate for even his worst enemy.

Seems like the horror of the place has been lost to the oft repeated term. To illustrate – A place of amusement has been schemed in Las Vegas, Nevada. It has been named, “Hell Incorporated.” It will operate day and night and contain every opportunity for vice that exists. A $40,000.00 lot has been purchased for the building and a $5,000.00 neon sign in the form of a devil with an arrow and a pitchfork, which constantly move pointing the way to hell, will lure the patrons in. From Los Angeles to Las Vegas roadside advertisements will be erected reading, “This is the road to Hell” and “Hell is Fun,” etc.

In order that the frequent user of the term “hell” may be better acquainted with the place he talks so much about, and toward which he is traveling, there are listed here a few of the features of that future abode. Perhaps they will be enlightening. The references are from the Bible, which reveals the truth on this subject, as it does on every other related to men.

The Only Escape
God would forfeit His right to govern this universe if He did not punish sinners as well as reward the righteous. Sin is high treason against the Almighty. But while God is just and must reckon with transgressors, it is not His will that any should perish in hell. He is “longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” II Peter 3:9. In His infinite love and wisdom He has provided a ransom. “God was in Christ, (at Calvary) reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them.” II Corinthians 5:19. Then God has devised this means whereby He can save a soul from the eventual consequences of sin through the substitutionary death of His Son on the cross. He died, “the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God.” I Peter 3:18. Jesus Christ is the escape. It all depends upon our personal acceptance or rejection of Him. He only can save from sin’s penalty. From His bleeding side one may go to either Heaven or hell as exampled in each of the deaths of the two thieves crucified with Him. The big question is, “What will you do with Jesus?”

“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” I John 5:12. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” Acts 16:31.
