How to Be Saved and Know It
Many persons question the Bible teaching of the security of the believer in Jesus Christ. This question is rooted in a lack of knowledge concerning the plan of Salvation as taught in God’s Word. If you are one of those who have pondered this problem in your heart, will you consider the Word of God and what is revealed by the Scriptures?
1. Do You Believe You Are A Lost Sinner?
Read what God says about this: “We have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin.” Romans 3:9 “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23. “For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.’’ Ecclesiastes 7:20 Nowhere does God give any other testimony regarding the state of the natural man. Without exception, all men are sinners, and lost.
2. Your Sins Bear A Death Penalty
“For the wages of sin is death.” Romans 6:23 “For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.” Romans 7:5 “And sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” James 1:15. God’s verdict has always been that, “the soul that sinneth, it shall die.” Ezekiel 18:4. You and I are no exceptions to that verdict of God. We have sinned, and before God we are condemned to eternal death. Our sins must be paid for with death. “Without shedding of blood is no remission.” Hebrews 9:22
3. Christ Died In Your Place
He Paid Your Sin Debt. “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God.” I Peter 3:18 “Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” I Peter 2:24 “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures.” I Corinthians 15:3 You will have to pay your sin-debt, unless you look to Christ as your Saviour. He died on the cross, and bore your sins on His own body. Instead of you having to pay for your sins with death, Jesus died in your stead. He died for you.
4. In Jesus Christ Is Complete Provision For Your Salvation
“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” I John 5:11,12 ‘’Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe.” Romans 3:22 The record of God is, that as many as believe in Christ have everlasting life, and the righteousness of God is theirs. God has made complete provision for your salvation, and that is freely provided in His Son.
5. This Salvation Is Yours, The Moment You Believe
“And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” Acts 16:31 ‘’But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name.” John 1:12 Salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ. That is the only way of salvation. This salvation from sin, by faith, gives the believer Sonship. We become sons of God by faith in Christ Jesus. What more can we ask of God?
6. How Can You Know You Are Saved? God says you are!
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the Name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the Name of the Son of God.” I John 5:13 ‘’He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life.” John 3:36 “He that heareth My Word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” John 5:24 “All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me; and him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.” John 6:37 Your salvation, dear friend, does not rest upon any promises of man, but upon the divine veracity of God Himself. These are not fables, or theories, but it is the promise and Word of God. You can depend upon it. “By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8,9
